Every year, on International Migrants Day, IOM missions and partners worldwide celebrate to raise awareness among the public on the important subject of migration and related issues.
This year, under the theme of #WeCreateTogether, IOM Sri Lanka invites young people from ages 10 to 29, to submit original and creative drawings under the following themes:
• Social Cohesion and Inclusion
• Safe Migration
• Climate Induced Migration
• Universal Health Access for Migrants
• Migration for Development
The art competition will serve to encourage and empower youth to explore pressing social issues of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia to foster respect for cultural diversity, and to share their creative vision with the world.
Who Can Take Part?
Age 10-16: Junior – Paper Art
Age 17-29: Senior – Paper Art
Age 17-29: Senior – Digital / Vector Art
The Awards
• The top three in each category will receive awards and opportunities to enhance their creative aspirations.
• The 30 most inspiring works of art will be displayed at the International Migrants Day and other IOM events, exhibitions and on publications.
• Shortlisted candidates will receive certificates.
Entries Specifications
Paper Art
• Be on A3 size paper (297 x 420 mm, 29.7 x 42.0 cm, or 11.69 × 16.53 inches)
• Have a border of 2 cm on all four sides
• Not be framed
• Participants are encouraged to use any technique, medium and layout.
Digital Art
• Image size: 1754 x 2581 pixels – A3 (297 x 420 mm, 29.7 x 42.0 cm, or 11.69 × 16.53 inches)
• Colour mode: RGB (no CMYK images)
• Maximum file size: 3 MB
• Be in EPS and Jpeg formats
• Name your image: firstname_lastname_IOM2019
• Not include photographs
• Digital artwork should be 2D and may include illustrations, concept design, digitals graphics and comic strips (related to the themes), etc.
• A minimal use of text us suggested.
• You should not use any copyrighted imagery for your designs, and you are responsible for copyright related issues.

Terms and Conditions
- Please include your name, Date of Birth, selected theme and contact details with your submission.
- All entries must be original and the work of the artist.
- Only one entry allowed per participant.
- Participants should be within the stipulated age group by 31st December 2019.
- All entries become the property of the IOM Sri Lanka, who reserves the right to publish or otherwise display the art as deemed appropriate.
- Submissions will be evaluated by an expert panel of judges according to their effectiveness, originality and creativity.
- Short listed candidates/finalists may be required to prove the authenticity of their work.
- Entries will be judged based in the theme, artistic merit, design, originality, technical excellence and context.
- Late entries will not be accepted.
